Success!

Well, I managed to count 5 out of 7 days last week and the success was on the scale today as I was down 2 pounds. I didn't manage to count yesterday so it might have been better if I didn't have pasta for supper (ha ha ha). This does not surprise me. I knew what the problem was. I just was having a difficult time actually counting. I was feeling mentally exhausted by the idea of doing it. So I put away the weekly counting books and started each day with a blank piece of paper and just recorded. The two days I didn't count I was running around and in the wrong place for meal times so everything went by the wayside, but that's okay. A single piece of paper to record doesn't stress me like a week long commitment. Stupid, I know, but at least I counted for 5 days this week and I am down.

I expect to be in pain tomorrow. I went to Manuela's class at the Y and she worked us like dogs! What is with all the running? Ai yi yi! Oh, well, that's why I go. I want to get to the point where I can actually do a bench dip or more than 1 'real' push-up in a row. How's that for a fitness goal?

Funny Link

A friend of mine posted this link on his Facebook wall - I thought it was very funny. Enjoy (and I hope you get it - please don't tell me if you don't).

Oh, yeah, I am hurting. I can't believe I went to a Step and Core class the day after Manuela's Cardio Kick-Start. I am surprised I can even move. BUT I have to do it because, as my weigh in told me yesterday, I have a lot of work to do.

Damage Control...

Well, the scale shows the story... thankfully the clothes still fit so it could be worse. I went to Manuela's Class at the YMCA today. I also did a circuit yesterday at the Y during Gib's pre-school, however, nothing is like Manuela's class. She is killer and she rocks and you cannot leave there without working hard. I will be sore tomorrow (especially my right buttock - I can tell). I am scheduled to go in tomorrow for a Step and Core class, but if the soreness is too much I may just walk the track. I have also scheduled baby-sitting for Friday. I should be okay for that class. It may be a good thing that Manuela only does the Wednesday class. It is probably too late for this week's weigh-in. I am still working off those martinis and the movie popcorn and the rice krispie squares. Don't get me wrong, they were worth it, but now it is back to real life and I have to start being accountable to myself! I want to be in size 14 for the summer.... It can happen.

Back to WW...

Yesterday Mom and I returned to WW after a hiatus of over 6 weeks. This meant we had to re-register, which was okay. I figured I'd join now and within 3 weeks I should have results because of the point I am at today and what is coming up with the show opening and all that. I was only up 3 lbs from when I left which is pretty good for maintaining over Christmas and the chaos of directing a show. Plus I wore heavy clothes and didn't pee before weigh in like I usually do so that's gotta be another pound!

Feeling Better...

I am down a total of 24 lbs on the WW scale. I know, I know, I was down 25 before but that was before the summer and we are now back on track. I am down 30 on the home scale and occasionally I drop down to 32 lbs lost on a good morning. The good thing is that the weigh-ins are back to moving in the right direction.

This week I pledge to get back to the YMCA for workouts. Feeling sick all last week kind of derailed me. I will also get on the treadmill. My goal is at least 3 workouts between now and Friday. I am away on the weekend so I will have to figure out something else for that.

How Do You Keep It Up?

Finding it very hard to count points this week and last. Was up this past weigh in and the heat has produced this incredible emotional inertia. I know I need to write it down, but I am tired of it. I need some renewal. I need some reward. It is so exhausting to do the work some days.

Weigh In Wonderful!

Today I had a great weigh in. I hit two milestones simultaneously. I got my 25 lb token and my 10% key chain. I lost 5.2 lbs this week - thanks tonsillitis!

Now if only we had a good facilitator! I am sick of this leader who obviously has never been "fat" in her life (her lifetime loss was 12 lbs so maybe she wore a size 6 once). She says things that suggest that "fat" people are somehow not as good as "slim" people. I always feel like she is one of those people who judges people based on how they look. She was going on about how in some families everyone is fat and how people blamed genetics but that studies have shown that genetics have nothing to do with it and anyone could be slim if they just worked at it - suggesting that fat people don't do as much work in their life as slim people. It's a lot harder to lose it than it is to gain it and although I do believe that everyone can lose weight if they do certain things, it is also way harder for those who have a more severe weight problem. Inertia is a terrible thing to overcome. I am not worried about me - but her message is somewhat destructive in my mind. I don't even think she gets it. She should be a cheerleader with good suggestions and no judgement, but she certainly doesn't come across that way. I have had too many of these facilitators who have never really struggled with weight. How can they understand someone who comes in with a real weight issues? I don't think they can.

WW Report

Oh yeah. Down 0.8 lbs this week for a grand total of 21.2 lbs! Yay! That's with a very food-filled weekend in there. Very happy.

Back on track...

Today I have been running around like crazy, but I managed to stop in for weigh in. I am happy to report that I am down another 2 lbs for a grand total of 20.4 lbs! It feels great to crack the 20 lb barrier. I am feeling better and the sunny days are exciting because they are so much easier to face! I do need to get to the grocery store for more fruits and veggies. I will also have to watch it this weekend because it is a big family weekend with a BBQ or two and a couple of birthday celebrations. No backsliding!

Busy as a bee...

Whew! Thursdays are busy! I now feel very tired, but it was a good day.

Happy about my expected Income Tax Refund - YAY! Last year I had to pay so getting something back is a joyful thing!

Happy about WW --> down another pound for a total of 16.4 lbs! YAY! All those stroller walks this week have paid off.

Happy about Chanteueses --> Jam packed rehearsal but my independent practice paid off when it came to Popular. I am good for the Mamma Mia stuff for the most part and most of my issues are with words. Overall I am in good shape and now at least I know where I have to put the work in.

Nice dinner with AM at The Blue Plate Diner (Dine out for Life --> 25% of the bill goes to AIDS funding). I love Colonel Mustard's, but this was a nice change for the weekly dinner. Always a good conversation with AM and we talked about those things near and dear to us. Mostly theatre! Ha!

WW Check in

I had missed a week at WW and got there today with Mom. I was happy to be down an additional 0.6 lbs for a total of 15.4 lbs. So I got another 5 lb sticker ('cause I like them!). I have to keep reminding myself that even though I have a long way to go (at least another 50 in my mind) I am doing great. I think because 15 is a small part of the total it doesn't feel as significant as I want it to. For some people 15 would be insurmountable. My new goal is to get my 10% by the end of the month. I think I can, I think I can...

Friday WW Check In...

Still moving in the right direction. I was down another 0.4 lbs this week for a grand total of 13.2 lbs (the fish in the picture weighs 13.2 lbs, in case you were wondering). I had expected to stay the same so the drop was a pleasant surprise. Good meeting. Still fighting the need to feed the false hunger. I am hoping with the advent of Spring and warmer weather I can move myself out of the house and away from the cupboards. I also have projects ahead that will help to keep me busy.

Working on getting the scripts read for the Walterdale Board Meeting this Sunday. I have 2 down and 2 to go. I don't really want to read the panto because the type is so small and the copy quality is bad. I will struggle through to see how it goes. Can't tell you more than this because the season is not set and we have to approve it first!

WW Way to Go!

I finally cracked the 10lb point! Yay! Down 3 lbs this week for a grand total of 12.8 lbs. Yay! Yay! Yay! Valuable reading this week was the "Thinking Like a Thin Person" from this month's Oprah Magazine. It made me think about the whole "being hungry" thing. I realized that I am not often really hungry, but I eat to avoid ever becoming hungry and I misinterpret the signals I get from my body. I reinterpret boredom, stress, nervousness, tiredness, etc... as hunger --> when they are NOT hunger. So I don't really think about what hunger actually feels like. So last night, when I was on the couch watching my C.S.I. and Grey's Anatomy, I ignored the calls to the cupboard because I wasn't REALLY hungry. How could I be? I had just eaten. Then this morning I actually felt hungry when I woke up. It actually ached in my tummy. Oh! So that is what hunger feels like! And you know what? Not eating last night didn't kill me.

Weigh In

Yes, it is Friday again. I am down another 0.2 lbs for a total of 9.8 lbs. I am glad that I lost, but reaching that 10 lb mark seems so challenging. I am doing everything right and I have to remember that the last time I did WW I was also nursing Oliver so the pounds dropped off faster. There was a little more happening. I shall keep pushing forward and working hard. It will pay off. Besides, even if the numbers on the scale aren't moving drastically, the way I feel has changed. I am retiring my "big jeans" and I look forward to moving down from my others (which are starting to feel looser).

The Joys of iTunes...

First of all - down 1 lb, so no 10 lb sticker (I'm at 9.6 lbs). I resolve to drink more water and workout at least 3 times this week. Please hold me accountable!

I bought an iPod. I like it, but I am not great with the whole iTunes yet. I have already figured out a few things, but I do not have any organization on the thing yet, so that will take time. I figure I could easily spend 5 hours a day downloading CDs and figuring out playlists. Good thing I only have a nano that can hold ONLY 500 songs. Ah. Mark mocks me and my new toy, but I like it.

A Work in Progress...

Okay, in the latest Oprah magazine they said that Bloggin can help you lose weight. I think that refers to specifically bloggin about the whole weight loss journey. I have blogged about it in the past when I was feeling crappy about it, but I should also blog when I feel good, right? Well, I feel good today. According to my scale I am down 13 lbs from January 1st. I started the WW a little later so I am hoping to get a 10 lb star tomorrow. I was down 8.6 lbs last week (Yay!!). I also broke a bad streak of inactivity and actually got ont he treadmill last night. It felt good. I walked/ran 3.6 miles and even watched X-Weighted at the same time so I felt it was a good mix. I know that I have to watch my eating when I am stressed and when I am bored. I also have to be careful at "events centred around eating", particularly when it is stand around eating finger foods --> I tend to be almost unconscious about how much I eat. Terrible, terrible. There was a guy on X-Weighted who was coaching the "main participant", he had lost 170 lbs (from a starting point of about 400 lbs). He said it is about 70% "what you eat" so you can't rely on working out more to totally compensate for poor eating. I know from experience he is right. I only really lose when I am careful with the food. If I don't watch the food and I workout I often just eat more. So I must be vigilant!

An Excellent Start to the 2026-2027 Theatre Season - YAGA and MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

I'm always very happy to see an excellent show - isn't everyone? - but it's a particularly great feeling to kick of a season wit...
